In the few years I've struggled with this tendency, 1,001 articles have been written on procrastination. I've had to employ a few of those techniques much too frequently. However, I find myself falling back into my procrastination habits repeatedly unless I learn how to play a mental game known as the fright game. I almost always play the fear game.

I play this game to make myself do things that I want to put off or am afraid to do. On a project, I work. Instead, I would postpone. I dial a pal. I'd rather not make a call.

I write a chapter in a book that I would rather not read. I try a novel writing style. I have avoided trying out of fear. Every day I do these simple things that I am easily afraid to undertake, and I notice an increase in my confidence and preparedness to beat procrastination. You are capable of doing it.

You don't have to start on large undertakings that rapidly demotivate you. You might start using the scary game as a challenge right now. Where can you find anything that you've been putting off for an hour or less every day? You touch it for an hour every day or on a certain day, then you entirely push it away.

Do every day what you are scared to do, even if it's a few minutes on a project you have long abandoned, but has huge future rewards. Besides the countless tips on overcoming Procrastination, This is one tip I know has worked for me. Procrastination is the thief of time, energy, goals, and dreams nipped in the bud early.
